About Me My name is Tamera West and I am the 7th and 8th grade teacher at Burnt Ranch Elementary. I started as a reading specialist and then moved into the 7/8 grade teaching position. I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education from the University of Nevada, Reno. I taught eleven years at the high school level before coming to Burnt Ranch School. I have been trained in literacy instruction and have worked as a tutor. I am committed to teaching and achieving student success. I have had a busy year working on professional development. I have attended the following trainings: Kate Kinsella’s Academic Vocabulary Campaign, CUE conference which promotes education through technology, SDE math training, Step-up to writing, California Teacher's Summit, and Love and Logic. In addition, I completed two courses through UCLA extension: Teaching Reading and Methods of teaching in elementary schools. I love learning and I am excited to bring this to the classroom. Family is important to me. My husband and I celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary this year. We moved to Willow Creek to be closer to my sister and her family. My brother joined us this year as well. I am goal oriented and welcome new challenges. My passions include teaching, reading, hiking, camping, snowboarding, watching movies, my pets, and gardening. My life is filled with gifts! |
